You did not mention your type of car, but the reveal molding on most 60s/70s cars are held on by small clips. You can purchase a removal tool from many parts stores for just a few bucks. The one I have is a heavy steel metal stamping that has an arrowhead end. The corners of the arrow head are put between the molding and the clip and then you just turn the tool to pop the clip.
