Yesterday I drove up to the shop and threw some cash on the counter and told him to go buy some go fast parts.

I would rather drive it out the back door !!! But as Brian stated, I think that is where the term originated when someone stayed in it thru the three cones or boxes.

naw...........LOL. Not wanting to know what the competition is or who has what in what with what since the wheel was invented and installed on a Pontiac. Just curious who the Top 20 for the year 2004 are. That's all. ET with mph. Type of ride with engine combo. A simple request. That's all. Then compare it with the year 2003 as far as the top 20 with ET & mph. Type of ride with engine combo. Just to see the difference. That's all I'm asking for. If someone was really bored they could do it all the way back....year for year. LOL. ![]() Later and Race Hard & Have Fun. |

Couple of corrections on behalf of the Minnesota guys: Bill Krech (not Kreech) is running an IA 1 block on the juice. Brad Smuland is running a Kaufmann built stock block 474.

Jack post your ET, MPH and info as in Johnta1 post.
I'm keeping a copy of this on my computor and need all corrections and updated info as far as Block and fuel power for the top 20........ or others that were left out in the country with better times that would fit the top 20 for 2004. Thanks. |

I have Krech spelled both ways, will change to one E.
I think everyone on the list has hurt an engine, most have made several passes, I think you could argue that none are one hit wonders. Bill Krech may have been faster than Bill Mellot in 2004, looks like the fastest I have on Bill in 2004 was [email protected] he was a full .100 faster in the eighth but slowed. Maybe he'll chime in here and let us know how fast he's gone yearly. Not sure on Barcek and his yearly numbers. 2003 #1 Rodney Butler 6.91@202 #2 Bill Mellott [email protected] #5 Bill Krech [email protected] #6 Mike Cooper 7.450@175 #7 Jeff Kauffman 7.49@175 #8 Steve Barcek 7.50@189 was he driving? #9 Dan Sweeney 7.50@186 #10 Paul Spotts [email protected] Rex, Gaydosh, and Pickett ran sevens in 03 It's tough now to go through on memory Guess I'll start keeping dates when I'm copying numbers from now on. I do remember that 2003 was the first time Jeff's digger wasn't the fastest Pontiac powered Pontiac at Norwalk since 95 or 96? Whenever Marty was running 7.69? Jeff had the fastest Pontiac that actually raced since the event started. -Rob |

Jeff Covey (Marty Palbykin's driver) ran a best pass in the 1996 time frame in the 7.40s (skipping second gear, 1st-3rd) on his first trip to Norwalk with the 25-1C Turbo Car.
He also ran as you mentioned a pass in the 7.60s and an inital pass in the 7.80s when everyone else was in the 8s (with a door car). The 7.40 made him faster than the rails that year even with the trans issues. This was the year that EVERYONE SAID that you would "split the factory block" at 1000 hp. How wrong everyone was! Good list Rob, Hope this helps. In 1996-1997 I was helping Marty and the Keens. In 1998 only the Keens.
