Hi Folks, Craig Hendrickson here.
As John Wallace posted, I'm reviving the old H-O Racing TurboFORCE package. Current plans call for two test mule installs on Gen-2 Firebirds, one owned by me (76 Esprit) and one owned by John Clegg (74 Trans Am). Initially, I'll just resurrect the original kit using a Rajay 301E and a blow thru QJet. Then I'll upgrade to a bigger turbo (maybe Garrett T6x) and Edelbrock's new EFI for the original Pontiac V8. After that??? Depending on the response, a commercial version may be produced. More details are on John Wallace's website: TurboFORCE Revival Project As noted in an earlier post, I've recently chatted with Tom Vaught about this project and he had some good suggestions. Any feedback or comments are appreciated! Craig Hendrickson, the "H" in H-O Racing Specialties. Now reviving the TurboFORCE kit. http://www.wallaceracing.com/TurboForce.html |

Welcome Craig!
I'm Very interested in a Blow thru Holley system with a slightly larger turbo? Possible? ---------------------------- If you can read this, thank a teacher.... If you are reading it in English, thank a Soldier. |

Larger turbo for sure. However, the original design air pressure bonnet enveloped the QJet carburetor, see these: early prototype bonnet, bottom view production bonnet installed, side view The Holley fuel bowls interfere with the bonnet. Maybe an Edelbrock Performer (AFB) would fit. There are several "pressure hats" commercially available that fit the Holley because they are perched on top; I'm sure you've seen them. However, I believe that these "top hats" leave a lot to be desired performance wise. The H-O pressure bonnet had several advanced aerodynamic features which significantly improved performance. An alternative would be to enclose the Holley with a pressure box. Commercial versions of these are also available, but their performance again may leave something to be desired. An interesting varient is RTech's combination pressure box and intercooler. This was debuted at last month's SEMA show: RTech SuperCooler with sideways Holley Craig Hendrickson, the "H" in H-O Racing Specialties. That's what I was afraid of. I already have a very nice blow thru Holley from Tom Vaught. But I could adapt a box for a holley.
I'm interested in the rest of the package though. Thanks! ---------------------------- If you can read this, thank a teacher.... If you are reading it in English, thank a Soldier. |

Welcome Craig,
All of my turbo experience is with motorcycles, but I am excited that you may produce a blow-thru system utilizing the new Edlebrock EFI. I want one! That totally solves the retard problem. Water injection is a crutch for poor gas or a mis-tuned sytem. With EFI, you probably won't need it. Regarding compression ratio. 7.0 - 8.4 just like they came stock in 1971+. The CR vs boost trade-off is always in favor of boost. P.S. I like your signature "Better lucky than good".
