I think your talking about NHRA stock and superstock classes? Your right those stock classes got their own section in the rulebook. Shorts and or tank tops prohibited while driving vehicle. pg.64 sect. 10;driver...I remember a guy who drove barefoot. This is the way it has been done sincer Wally and Cal timing Ass. started it in the yr. 0. The cars are stock and except for engine are basically that showroom stock. In those days you could order a 265-455 Indian, 365-426 Hemi or 348-427 Big Block, 440 Wedge, 327 375hp Mouse, 421-428 SD etc. with all the trimmings. Gear choice to 4.88. Auto or stick in several choices ea. This would be a good question for Bob Frye or Graham Light. OR W.P. As they say "it's the way they do it". Why does the Earth go around the sun. Why does the Moon go around the Earth. Why does life begin at 40. As I have posted several times. A system of reporting incidents on tracks to NHRA is what makes rule changes. Not a mfg. lobby! They just don't have the incidents in the stock classes, as compared to ET bracket incidents, to warrant any rule changes. WHEW!

BIGGERISBETTER-78 Catalina, 3650#, 13.750, 400 .060, 6x8, Q-jet. 15 yrs in NHRA tech ret. Next drag car, 78 Bonne Stationwagon.
