Yes. Some intake/valve cover combos need to have the lip of the cover ground as the intake ports keep the valve cover from drawing tight, even with the thicker Felpro Performance VC gaskets.
Some have recessed and some do not.
I've used the Felpro Hi-Perf gaskets for 15+ years without issues.
