I have the same problem as well except I have a 73 455 in a 68 Firebird, I too did the March pulley route which now the crank, alt and w/p align perfectly, however the p/s still does not align properly. It is just like you said a 1/4 inch off the mark. But if I shim this from the block then my alt will be off but the p/s will be aligned, what a .........
