I agree with Ken. As an engine builder ,I to, have my own preferences. I have used many of Comp. springs on many different types of engines from street to race, even the popular 995's for the street Pontiacs, with no problems. I find they may be a bit light on the pressure side as per their recommendations, so I just add a little more shim, but never had any failures. If he insists on not using them, bring them to someone who will. Why should you have to shell out the extra bucks for a spring that will do the same job when you already have these?
