I had Rhino liner put in the bed of my pickup, and the guy who did the work said he does a lot of undercoating for people restoring vehicles. Sometimes they just do the fender wells, sometimes the entire underside.

It is pretty dense and heavy stuff, but they can control how thick they put it on. They can also color match the material (at least Rhino can, I don't know for sure about other brands) - I gave them the color code for the paint on my truck and they were able to custom mix the liner material to an exact match.
