If you are just going to bracket race it I would run a powerglide with a 4000-4500 stall. This way you only have one shift to mess up.
Consult the converter manufacturer before purchasing. Continental,ATI,Turbo Action,Hughes,Precision ETC. Take your pick.
I'd probably go with a Continental because they seem to have a better feel for what Pontiac motors like.
