Is the alternator pulley size the same on the replacement alternator? Check the wire at terminal 3 of the regulator; it should have battery voltage on it, key on or off. Also make sure the belt is not slipping.

BTW, under what conditions did the light come on with the older parts? This may give us a clue as to what failed.
