If you plan to attend the POCI Nats. @ Greenville SC July 12-17, OR if you live in the surrounding states and have a classic or corporate powered Pontiac, HPP Magazine needs applicants for it's "Shootout" to be held on Weds. July 13 @ Atlanta Dragway. Please contact Randy Allen @ [email protected] for applications and info.

This is a great chance to see your car in print, tuning between runs, and making solo passes for the camera all on a fine uncrowded strip .

Sharren and I are driving cross-country to the Nats. from SoCal, showing our 68 GP in Judged Modified, racing in the POCI Drags, and participating in the HPP Shootout if my application is accepted .

Dang Les, give someone else a chance!

I just ran my car in the Shootout at VMP and had a great time. I'd recommend the experience to everyone.

Don't delay getting those applications in as they are due June the 13th. Although I can't speak for HPP magazine, I don't think that they are looking for only show quality race cars , but interesting Pontiacs with varying levels of performance used for racing only and street/strip driven.

You can download the application for the Shootout at http://www.palmettopontiacs.com

Come for the shootout and stay over for the POCI race on Thursday, July 14th. Payout is over $8,000 as of now and growing. Payouts will be in manufactorers gift certificats and cash. Awards will be presented at the POCI Awards banquet. We have over 750 registrations now.

Sorry, but I can't address when HPP will be up in MN. Typically Tom D. puts on a Shootout in conjunction with the TA Nats around Ohio, which is at least a lot closer. Regarding the types of cars, they don't have to have show quality paint as Les suggested. We are looking for a good cross-section of the Pontiac hobby, including late-models. If it will run low 13's or better, please apply. This does remind me of one gentleman who had a spiffy Krylon BBQ black painted car in one of our Shootouts a few years back. Yes, we ran his picture in B&W and it looked sweet!

I just competed in the HPP shoot-out at Pontiacs in the park. I had the ugliest car in the event with primered fenders to boot... I had to laugh when Don photoed me by my car,I told him there "wasn't a good side"!My car performed flawlessly and I was proud of the beast!

It will definitely run faster than a 13.99 and it is only slightly cosmetically challenged but no where near a show car. More of a street legal(in certain states) bracket car. Even took it to a club event last night, driving around Charleston with it.. The looks and windows rolling up was priceless.

For those of you who applied but didn't get accepted for the VMP Shootout, I will be contacting you about whether you have interest in participating in the POCI Shootout. If you want to contact me before Tom forwards the apps to my house, contact me at 972-898-0055 and give me a heads up.
