I bought a "parchment" interior kit for my 69. It was made by PUI interiors. It definately has a gold pearl in it (and boy, did I ever have fun painting my headrests to match it too). I'm thinking off the top of my head, so if I'm wrong, someone here will correct me, but I believe 68's used the "pearl" interior. Now, I've never personally seen a original 69 parchment interior, but I don't believe it had the gold pearl in it like the 68's. So, my guess is instead of making separate parchment and pearl colored kits, PUI makes the pearl kit to fit both years. Also, it's far from "white". If you put something white next to it, you really see the goldness to it. I like it though, it looks good with my black exterior. Jeff

All 1965 through 1969 Pontiac models used the 'pearl effect' on there vinyl interior color choices. Pontiac called it 'Jewel Toned'. It was actually sprayed on the vinyl and was used on all interior colors-not just parchment. If you look close at original low milage cars you can still see the effect on them. Through the years though most of it has worn off however.I believe Pontiac was the only division to do this on there interiors.
The problem with aftermart interiors(in my opinion) is that when they started reproducing kits the companies assumed Pontiac used the same colors as the almighty Chevy. Chevy only used the 'pearl effect' on Parchment 1968 models and that is what was only available to Pontiac restorers originally. I have seen that PUI and Legendary are finally doing the Parchment correctly but I don't think they spray the other colors. I have purchased the vinyl interior spray Parchment / Clear Pearl and used only the clear pearl on other color interiors with great results.

So is the pearl effect also on the door panels and seat backs?
