I think I agreed with you in my post (?) Sorry if that didn't come through.

Mikeb,I did'nt see your post till after I finished writing mine,so my previous post was kinda directed more to address the previous post by P-dude.

I just think its easy for a person to say "just do this if your smart",but not give a second thought to how they expect this other person to do what they are advising, and without having the sightest clue about this other persons situation.

And that's all my last point was really getting at.

Like I said,it's easy to spend someone elses money!

But you bring up a good example mikeb, you say you been slowly putting together an IA2 combo for a few years now, have you been racing something else in the interim?

Would that not maybe benefit from such a product if you were doing so?

Are you going to use a cast crank in the IA2?

How much $$$$ into the combo so far?

Lots of people cannot,or will not want to wait years to get something together, and will do what they have to so they can race now, even if it ends up being more expensive later, thats just the choice they make to race now!

I just feel that there is no reason to think they dont understand what they're doing, sure that may be the case for a few,but I give many folks the benefit of doubt that they've made the decision based on what their circumstances allow at that time.

I just feel that a product like this could find its niche in this market, thats all.

No civil war here IMO.

Just some discussion of the merits of a product like this pro and con, nothing ugly or heated from where I'm sitting.

Really I see both sides, unfortunately right now I am not in the position to consider both choices an option,if a well designed and practical girdle were available I would possibly be able to consider using one if it were'nt too expensive or complicated to install.

But for me,right now, there is just no way I could swing the IA2/MR1 as a posssibillity.

And the truth is there are "classes" of racers out there, and nobody can deny its REAL hard to compete with the "class" of racer with seemingly bottomless pockets...

But that has never stopped the "bucks down" racers from trying!

I am, Now ask why...well before you ask it is because that is what I have...but by your theory I should be building another stock block...since I already have so much money into my combo, I mean I cold just pull the caps again and the mega brace pay for all the machining just to have another 2 year timebomb.....I dont think so.

You see and from my previous posts I have already taken out two factory blocks @ 700hp. these did have the tricks done to them, you know billet caps, 4 bolt, filled block, mega brace...all stress relieved and I got 2 years out of each so now I have $4000.00 sitting on the garage floor that I can not use but for some reason I am having a very hard time putting them in the trash. Did you want them? I was lucky that I did not have the block come completely apart @ 137+mph because it would cost alot more to replace the car than what a new block would cost, not to mention my life and possibly the person in the other lane...I have never lost a crank except for the one that my block got rid of for me, maybe I have been lucky. So I took some time off until I can afford a block yep it will be aftermarke and yep it will be a 4.190 bore with a cast crank and 4 year old rods. Maybe when I have some more money saved up then I will be able to get a forged crank and some bigger pistons, but that is in the future for me right now it is just about a block...

And remember that not all people work at or have a inexpensive machine shop to go to, as for me I drive 8 hours just to get the block honed, and that is one way...For all the people that do have a hand full of blocks sitting in your back yard and a machine shop on every corner and are willing to put your life at risk then by all means push the factory block. I do not know if the main girdle will help or not only time will tell, I hope it does but all the money for the work...I dunno

I do not want this to sound like I am b*tchin about this product, I am just typing fast as my 16month old is in the bath so I have no time to proof read, sorry

Chad
