Default aftermarket gauges light power source

Before I crawl under the dash, can anyone make a suggestion as to where I should pick up a power souce for the instrument panel lights for my aftermarket pod ? This is for a 71 goat.

Thanks

Glen.

Glen,
i just helped a friend install a tach and we found an unused terminal on the fuse block. "LAMPS" terminal, has power when parking or headlights are on.

There will be a grey wire hanging by the clock pod (rightmost). Depending on options, if you've got a cigarette lighter light, you could splice into that wire and/or the wire into the radio harness. In all cases, the dashlight wires are grey. Run your hot wire to that and ground the other side to the dash metal (screw holding your aftermarket gauge bracket should be fine)
