I luv the 400. Fun, free revving engine.
'67 400 XU block bored .035". Decked to .008". Glyptol painted '69 350 N crank cut 20/50 and balanced '68 Front assembly '70 455 GTO fuel pump. Eagle 6.8" rods. Ross Pistons 4.150" dished for 9.3:1 and uses NOS-compatable ring pack and end gap. Floating pin. 670 heads ported 240/190, totally rebuilt, 995 springs, viton seals 1016 head gaskets, ARP head bolts. RPM intake, Q-jet, 14" aircleaner XE274 advanced 2*, Crower stainless 1.5 rockers, Magnum pushrods. MSD billet ignition, 6A box, 12* Base, 34* at 3000. BBC main studs, Milodon pan and tray, M54DS pump blueprinted. Hardened pump shaft FM4040M 3/4 groove mains, Clevite BBC performance rod bearings Hooker SCs, into 3" exhaust w/magnaflows dumped in front of rear axle Shell 93 octane fuel. Driveline: 2000 footbrake, 3200 Stall BTE converter. TH350 tranny with Trans-Go shift kit, and upgraded parts. R/E: Ford 9" with 3.90 gears and detroit locker. Moser 31 spline axles. Car: '67 LeMans street/strip beater. Race weight of 3600 lbs. Street legal, decent street manners. Performance: (with 3.23 gears in 8.2") 1.92 60 ft, 8.22 @ 84.4 in 1/8. -TRW 400 std bore Forged Pistons -SCAT H-Beam 6.625 rods w/ARP bolts -#16 Heads with Ferrea 6000 series valves (inlets cut back to 30°) and standard length, 60405 valve springs and Yella Terra 1.65 full alloy roller rockers. Intake gasket matched to FP1233 gasket, exhaust was just cleaned up with a 120grit sanding scroll -Custom multiport fuel injection with 42lb injectors & 78mm LS1 throttle body, MSD Probillet Dist, MSD 6AL with Megasquirt controlling fuel and spark -Custom headers, 1 3/4" primaries into a 3" collector, ceramic dipped, 2.5" stainless from collector to tailpipe with X-pipe. -Twin Turbo Toyota Supra 5speed gearbox w/Hayes 2700lbs pressure plate 10.5" -Ford 9" LSD, 3.5 gears rolling on 16x8" rear rims (255/50R16) and 16x7" up front Prior to injection, headers/exhaust, clutch upgrade and the latest cam it had made ~280rwhp with the clutch slipping. 400 .030 over XE274 Cam RPM Intake Stock #48 heads TH400 W/10" Continental converter 12-Bolt W/3.90s 275/60-15 M/T DRs 1969 LeMans, still all metal Best time so far 13.30 @ 100.something W/ 1.84 60ft I think I can get a little more out of it... Note: went 11.30s /120mph 3750lbs, 12 bolt/4.11s, TH350 with GER 3800 converter (cheapie) and 28x12.5 M/T ET Streets, full 3" exhaust out the back using 3 chamber Flowmaster (no Dr.Gas X).
