Well, here is, the only 69 TA with red deluxe interior. No PHS shown or VIN givin but looks to be original. No power disk brakes though, just power drum brakes??? It lists PDB, but the master cyliner is for drums. Car looks very nice less than 6K on it !!

Ya know, if they want top $$$, they need to have much better detail on their pics and description. Shoot the PHS doc, and put the VIN in as you spend that typoe of money on it you have to spend $35 on PHS yourself with rapid processing to be in the 6 day auction limit. Underside pics (floor pans exhaust, trans,etc.), more engine bay, trunk, and body tag, just to name a few pics. Great car needs a good followup. Agree? I mean, I for one, would like to do my homework before bidding up to a level of that cars caliber. 80K is low for that TA, but I would hesitate if I don't have all the answers up front.

Looking at it again...whats that pull knob under the drivers side interior dash. Pull switch for RAM air? Thought there was none of that on TA? maybe has Hydro-flow? PHS list would have covered those options.

I totally agree. I have my NH dealer's license and sell cars exclusively on eBay as a hobby (2-3 per month). I spend HOURS taking pictures and creating a listing. Here's an example of one that I have up now:

I have found that it makes a BIG difference to spend the time to make a good listing. With a car as rare as a 69 T/A, I definetly would be hyping the low number of productions and provide detailed pics of all components.

However, with a car like this, eBay doesn't neccesarily become the place of the transaction. It gets thousands of people looking at it and allows you to "deal off-line" to get it done. This is how I sold my Shelby Cobra a few years ago. eBay generated the interest, then the serious bidders came and inspected that car in person.

You are right that there was no cable to activate the Ram Air System on the '69 Trans Am. The cable you observed however is not for any Ram Air System components but is found on all '69 Firebirds to allow fresh cabin air through the round chrome dash vents. There is one on the passengers' side as well.

Maybe it's bad depth perception but that knob is closer to the steering column on that car. Probably just the camera angle but a very nice looking car.

Looks like the right side vent knob is in the kick panel like a '67, which also had the left side in the kick panel, if I recall correctly.

'69 Firebirds / Trans Am's have both dash vents and kick panel vents with seperate knobs for each.

Here's my take on why people have private auctions....

1. As an example lets say you are trying to sell your '69 TA. If someone else is trying to sell their '69 TA they may contact the people bidding on your car and offer their car to them privately at a lower price to make a quick sale. It ends up ruining your auction because bidders now have a choice of which '69 TA they want to buy. When you're trying to sell a 90K-130K car it's hard to find serious buyers with the means to make such a large purchase. - It's important to keep the bidders thinking that if they seriously want a '69 TA, then the car you're offering is the one they need to buy.

2. They are misrepresenting the car (clone/rebody) and don't want other enthusiasts contacting your bidders to let them know something is up. ---- In the case of the '69 TA on Ebay I don't think this applies. The Ebay car looks to be a nicely restored, well documented, totally legitimate example of a '69 TA.

BTW - I know for a fact that example #1 has happened in the past.

I agree with R 70 Judge, not to mention the scammers out there that will hijack your auction and/or send second chance offers to the bidders after it ends if the reserve isn't met. This has happened to me & the reason I think there are so many private auctions lately.

I had a chance in the mid 90s to bye an all original 69 TA (missing motor) for 10 k. I did end up getting a deal on a 74 num match SD though for $2700. Those kind of deals are over..

yes , it was my car . That was way back in 1980 . Was very original car ,owned by a Attica State prison gaurd . Glad to see it was finally restored.
