GM Service manual is a must, IMHO..Assembly Manual is a nice to have if you are adding options that require correct measurments on body panels, etc...I also thought Zazarine's GTO Resto guide was also a good reference book

I'm not too far into my project but so far the following books have been helpful:

"How to Resotre your Musclecar" by Donahue & Zazarine. Its about 15 years old but has been recently re-released with updates. Covers complete frame-off restorations.

Although it highlights the resoration of a 1970 Dodge Charger I have found "Project Charger" by Larry Lyles entertaining and somewhat helpful.

"101 GM Muscle Car Performance Projects" by Colin Date and Rich Burns is good for tackling smaller "week end" projects like carpet installs, steering column rebuilding, cam installs, etc.

"How to Restore Your Collector Car" by Tom Brownell is another title I own that has separate chapters dedicated to different areas of restoration (i.e. - upholstery, body work, etc.)

Hope this helps,
