I just ran across this vintage GT-37 photo in a Hot Rod "Archive Series" magazine. Those '71s really looked nice with those 2 color stripes. Can't wait to see your car when finished Tom!

Cool, thanks for posting! That car looks exactly like the car in the factory photos. Incorrect mirror and all... What magazine was that in?

UPC,
The magazine is "Hot Rod Archive Series, Musclecars", issue #4 (Fall 2006). It's filled with vintage articles and pics and covers all makes. Even the Pontiacs get some decent coverage (for once!).

The original June of '71 Hot Rod article was in printed in black & white & I've always thought the tested car was white. Over the years working swappers I've bought quite a few copies. Thanks for the tip on issue #4, will have to pick one up |

If you go to HOTROD.com, you can get archival-quality prints of two photos from that June '71 article. Just discovered that yesterday. Mine are on the way. The June '71 HR car doesn't appear to be the same car as the gold car pictured earlier in this thread. It has sport mirrors, honeycombs and a Formula wheel.

Thanks, for the link am not at home near the stash, so in haste, missed the differences.
Looking at the pics of the gold GT-37, I'd bet it to be a very early preproduction press photo, before the body color mirrors were avail from the vendor. Can also spot the manufacturer plate. |
