I'm seeing people posting on stength issues and such?
95% of the Pontiac racers aren't going to be even close to pushing the limits of any overseas Billet or Steel crank. Both of these cranks will support over safely 900 hp if all the rules are followed and everything set. The other 5% aren't gonna use them anyway. The percentage of broken Cast steel cranks is under 1% as it is. And that's doing what most other manufactures or builders wouldn't attempt anyway. I have seen as many factory cast Pontiac cranks broke as Chinese cranks. |

But if you took it wrong I was saying that the other 5% will be high hp applications including 1500hp plus power adder deals with all the bells & whistles, lightweight and knife edged, etc. etc. When your looking for all that extra hp. A 72/75 lb Chinese crank isn't what your looking for. |

If ya'll are wondering why HIS dragged this up outta the archives, check the thread linked below here,I linked to this thread in the other thread dealing with crossdrilling cranks, and the fact that crossdrilling has somewhat dropped outta favor with many modern crank oiling designs.
Linked to this thread to point out that these new BOP/All Pontiac forgings are using the currently prefered "straight shot" oiling instead of going the crossdrilled route. crossdrilled crank thread. I had also pointed out that a good many "high end" billets are doing as such also,I'm pretty sure crower, scat and most other billet cranks use the "straight shot" oiling also unless specified otherwise. I forgot to mention in the other thread that Dave at enginecraft (crazypont) also specifies the "straight shot" oiling as a feature on his line of cast cranks too. I was just pointing out that there are some different points of view on the subject, and the debate still is somewhat less than settled, even among the "experts". HTH all understand this. Bret. |
