I'm trying to find a Bellhousing runout fixture to set up the runout on a new Mcleod scattershield. I have a magnetic based fixture, but it keeps falling off as I turn the engine over. Tavia used to make one p/n 08410, but it is no longer produced. Anyone know where I can get one.

I don't know if there's such a thing available- maybe. I always just rig up whatever little brackets I need to clamp under a flywheel flange bolt and hold a small 'test indicator'- the lever-type indicator, as opposed to a plunger-type. The whole indicator is only about 3" long.

Ok thanks, I just ordered a Tremec 5 spd and in the instructions they require this check to be performed or their warrenty is void. Either a lot of tranny's are installed on blind faith or their has to be a a fixture to simplify this process. Perhaps I need a better magnetic fixture as mine keeps moving around so that I'm not getting an accurate reading.

http://www.advancedclutches.com/prod...t%20Tool%20Kit (may be able to adapt, flywheel/pressure plate bolt patterns are generic on GM) Check Proform, Coleman Racing, Northern Tool, and believe it or not, dare I say, Rock & Roll has one too. You can use a dial indicator and a clutch aligment tool too to do the check, though may not be as accurate...

Sounds like maybe you need a better magnetic base. The one I have wouldn't fall off. The magnet in it is strong enough that it's hard to pull the base off of a good, flat surface. Danged if I can remember where I bought it though...

I had no problem with the cheapo base with the dial.
The base and indicator cost $25.00 at a swap meet. I think ENCO even has them for less.
