It came with a Q-jet...hopefully it was a Pontiac engine and not an Olds 403. A Pontiac Q-jet will bolt up fine, but you'll maybe want to consider converting it to an electric choke. You will probably have to work thru some issues with throttle linkage, and the vent stack may interfere with your air cleaner base, but these are relatively minor issues.

If it's an Olds 403 carb, you'll have an extra headache with the linkage and maybe vacuum ports.

An Olds carb number will end in "240-249" and a Pontiac carb will end in "260-276"

Default engine is a 400 I believe,,

I was able to peek at the engine, had 6X heads on it , pretty sure it's a pontiac, Thing is partly torn down with parts in the car and trunk. Haven't seen the carb yet, car is on a trailer both of which are buried in the snow. Can't open the doors more than 4-6 inches due to the fenders on the trailer preventing the doors from opening further. Hopefully I can look in the trunk soon to see if it's there.

From your description of potenial issues it doesn't sound too bad.

Any other experiences anyones had with similar projects???

Hey Howard how you been? Let me know if you want to part with that holley your taking off. I have got to get rid of the edelbrock carb I'm currently running. Has a tendency to flood out while running. So if your looking to get rid of it let me know. thanks, Joe.
