Can anyone tell how to test my horn relay for my 68 Lemans?
My horns are not working? I only need to test the #1 post, the car runs etc.The local auto part stores Oriley's, Auto Zone & Advance autoparts say their vendors have discountined the part. If it is bad does anyone know where I could find a replacement? Your help is greatly appreciated. |

Well...
I'm not sure which post is what but probably the easiest way would be to put 12 VDC directly to your horn and then you know if the horns work or not. Next you can measure with a Ohm meter the contact in your steering column. If you get 0 or very low Ohm's then you know the contact is working which means you either have a wire problem or your relay is taost.

Goat Noob,
I'm not sure where in the steering column to take the ohmn reading. Are you saying take the spokes off and check the buttons contact points? One horn was working when I took them off. I just bought new ones from Wolo they should be fine. |

If you need to check the relay, go to your friendly NAPA store and have them look up the relay. The number is discontinued, but it still appears in the Illustrated guide. The illustration shows a schematic which will allow you to properly test the relay.
