mine lived a happy unbroken life in my 68 convertible, 10:1 400, small heads, small cam, with big tires.
i didn't beat the snot out of it by a long shot, but i don't drive like grandma moses, either. when i was younger, i went though 3 or 4 in my 455 73 TA. back then, they were worthless and i was hard on drivetrains. make sure it's a v8 trans, not a short-geared six cylinder unit.
