HI All-

I've always been curious why rusty rockers seem to be preceived so badly? I've seen cars that had no quarters, floors or trunks that are called restorable then see one with rusted rockers only and they were called donor cars. Is there considerable complexity in replacing rockers ? Just always been curious. Thanks for any replies.

I think from what I've read here you need to do a frame off to get to them.

I think we have evolved. Years ago, we used a lot of bondo. We brazed metal or rivited it together. There were not a lot of readily available sheet metal parts. Today, we have many replacement sheet metal parts. Easy to get also. Most but not all of us have welders or access to one. We weld in patches of steel now. Not screen covered bondo. We have a unending source of information about whatever we want to know about here on the internet. I played on the internet for years till I discovered these forums. Forums are about all I do now. I daily frequent forums for Personal Watercraft AKA JetSki, Chevelles, Pontiacs, Metal Forming and Welding.
I plan to replace my rocker panels on my LeMans convertible. Nothing really scares me when it comes to this stuff because if it was built by man it can be rebuilt by man too. Keeping things lined up and braced is key to a job like rocker replacement. I believe most everything can be fixed if one puts his mind to it. I also believe the internet has made us all smarter because we share ideas and even improve on other peoples already good ideas.

I just did mine.I just cut what was needed thats it.They where rusted in the center of the rocker.I took a cut off wheel to them.Went to sears hardware and got some 16 gauge steel ,cut to size and welded in.One coat of filler and there good.I wouldn't do the whole thing though unless you know what your doing.I fugured I was cool with cutting the rust out anyway.It wasn't structual there or it would of bent there.
