Wow!!! I've never seen frame rust before. What factors come into play for thick metal to rust like that? Guess i'm lucky down here. On your car it is worth it due to what it is. A run of the mill Cat like mine would quickly become a parts car if I found that. Keep up the good work.

Snow, lots of snow. Snow gets in the cracks melts from the salt on the roads freezes and thaws and bam 42 years later this is what is left.

I have wondered about this before. If you compare that to an open framerail car, you will feel a lot better. There is not nearly as much metal on those.
If I was going to all the trouble of having the frame off the car, I would just get another one. Hard to get in to them to stop the stuff for good. For what you'd spend for a parts car with a frame, you would save a ton of aggravation.
