Sunbirds swap quite well with Cavvies, but be aware of trans differences. If you have a 1.8 or 2.0, the trans is different than the 2.2. As long as they are the same, as in auto to auto, then everything else hooks up. Unplug the harness from the Cavvie, and switch the computer too, and you are set. Grand Am is similar as well, but I would avoid the Quad 4's due to reliability issues. You can even go V6 if you want, from a Z24, or Skylark with the Buick V6. I had wanted to take a 3.8 and put in my old Sunbird, but never got around to it. The 3.3 is a little brother to the 3.8, all the mounts would work.

Thanks for the info
Ive got a 2.0 and 5 spd it looks like another cav or a sunbird are really my best options. and I really want to keep the 5 spd (makes a little car a lot quicker and fun) If I understand the wiring harness is the same between 2.0 and 2.2 I just need to switch the eng and computer? |
