Just returned from taking the 79 TA to the scale.
3360LB without me in it.1/2 tank of gas. This car dynoed 401hp,396ftlb to the wheels which gives me anywhere from 480-525hp to the flywheel depending on what numbers i go by that im loosing on the dyno. With the right gears/traction,What time will 500hp push a 3360lb car to?We dont have a track around here so i wont know for real for a while.I weigh 180lb. Any guess!

When Pontiac Dude was testing one of his hyd roller motors we ran at the track and on a chassis dyno on the same day. He went a 10.5x and put down 501 RWHP, but his car works.

If it hooks well, low to mid 11s.

Depending on the final weight, you may fill up the tank! lol
The calculator I use shows between 12.04 @113 MPH to 12.20 @112 MPH. With that said, I'll vote 12.40 @110 first time out. JD

How did you get it so light!?
I've got a 71 and have yet to weigh it, but from what I've seen these cars are 3700lbs and up without some major junk removal! |

That good for that year TA. My stock 455 TA w/ AC and Honeycombs weighed 3,980.

I`m at 3590,with me.I weigh 206. The car still retains the full interior, has an 8-point roll bar,heater,5-row brass radiator, manual steering and brakes. Mark.

I ran 10.87 @ 2870 and the slide showed 500 FWHP. You need to calc your weight in so my guess would be 11.50's with it set up well.

I was thinking low to mid 11's.I dont know what the car weighed stock, reg says 3700 and change.I took ac out, alum heads, fiberglass hood, cut crash beams out of doors(27lbs each),alum intake.Car still has full interior with rug, insulation and all.I could go lighter but i like having interior and stuff.
BVR421,13.8@112 Thats rough man!

Mine put down 410/440 and tips the scales a 3700+ lbs. It runs 10.90's all day long in the heat, NA.
You CAN'T compare RWHP numbers from different dynos, there are too many variables. |

Well you got me interested enough to actually weigh my own car today- came up at 3450 lbs without me in it, with a half tank of gas.
Stock 71 Firebird, with AC (no compressor, brackets, pulleys, only the AC Unit), and an aluminum intake. |

You called it!
It's all these GTO/LeMans/Tempest people who want us to think our cars are heavy, clearly because they're jealous! haha, in all seriousness I'm happy its that light. I think I'll shave some more weight off with an AC delete kit, fiberglass hood, and fiberglass nose (don't ask.....apparently horses enjoy chewing on endura....) |

Bet you also find some traction issues. Thats what I found with my 63 street car. Most of us tend to think power mods before we think traction enhancement. LOL But it all works out in the end. My 64 is only 3220 with driver thanks to twooldgoats building it with lots of fiberglass. It is a little front heavy at 1720lbs. Someone suggested that may be due to the 320lb driver but thats hard to believe. |
