Again thanks to all for compliments. Also, again, no offense taken by anyone asking questions or pointing out incorrectness in fact I welcome it. I always have room to learn and/or improve. I don't have and never will have a perfect car. I've seen the 4 spd SD Brewster has and it's the closest to perfect I've ever seen. Excellent reference and something to aim towards for future restorations.

Different subject : Thought of this while making arrangments for the TA nats. There was a guy who used to show up there that I haven't seen for 3 or 4 years. Big guy, maybe late 50s or so. He had a few SDs and would drive one to the show. Then he had at least one friend drive another of his cars. Not high point show cars but nice, real original cars. A very pleasant guy to talk to. Seems like he mentioned once that they drove 3 or 4 hours to get there. Anyway, I just wondered if anyone on here knew of him or where he's been.

I know the guy you are talking about. I think his name was Dave. Haven't seen him at any of the usual event in a couple years. Seems to me he lived on the west coast of Michigan somewhere.

You're correct in that he was a real nice, easy going guy that always drove a 74 or 75 T/A to all the events when he could attend.

Like I said, haven't seen him in a couple years.

Last time I saw him was 03 or 04. He drove a white 74 and his friend drove a red 74. Both SDs I think. Visited with him on that friday nit for quite awhile. He was parked in the area in front of the hotel towards the airport end. Hopefully all is well with him and he'll be back.

Oh, glad to hear Alan got that SD NOS exhaust system that was on ebay. I wish I had the extra cash since that was a once in a life time part.

Thank you very much, but I'll have to take a rain check. Heading out this weekend on my annual motorbike trip. Wow, it would be great to see all those cars though. One of these years for sure. You guys have a safe and fun weekend. Hope to see/meet you at the TA nats.

So I cruise to the local street meet hangout last night and here drives in a white/blue '74 SD455. I walk up to the car an sure enough is the genuine article. So I start talking to him and he says that he has aquired GM licensing to cast the SD455 blocks, intakes and heads! He supposedly is working in some sort of fashion, with Nunzi to do this as he says that he has the original blueprints that would make this possible.
I say it's not going to happen but I gave him "my card" and since the guy is local, I plan to keep my ear close to the ground on this deal.
We all remember when Butler was going to reproduce RAIV heads........that was several years ago.

I'm bad at remembering names but I think his name is Rick.
Never seen this guy before. He said he's owned the car for about 3 yrs. and lives up around the Woodlands.
His car is a very nice "driver" with the blue interior, automatic, ralleys.

I know of another guy who claims HE has the rights to that stuff and he'll be reproducing them shortly. RAIV heads, SD heads, 442 W30(F,H,GA) heads and more. I'm not sure I'm happy about this as it makes it easier to fake out a car, but for those who just want performance well here you go. I guess we'll see what happens...

I hope the quality is better than the aluminum HO manifolds that are being repopped that need about 10 hours of port shaping and blending before they are usable!

Okay fellas, the SD is in the shop for paint. This is the second paint job this old war dog has been given. I want to be sure it's correct. I've heard that some of these measurements may not be correct, and I don't see anything for the fender measurements at all.

Can one of you original paint job gurus confirm what I have here and let me know what the correct measurement are for the fender decals? Mine also only has the baby bird on the nose.

Don't know if the debate has ever really been settled regarding 73 SD engine color and which shade of blue is correct. I know there's a post somewhere on here about it. Reason i bring it up is that i have my engine out at the moment and intend to freshen the paint up before it goes back in. presently i have it in the slate blue color. comments? presonally i prefer the look of the lighter blue ....

I got the formula for this color online somewhere. I think it is a little dark but it's painted and it's going in like this. Using the flash on the camera totally changes the way the color looks in a photo so I think not seeing the color in person is somewhat deceptive.
