'72 LeMans GT stripes were available in 3 colors - black, gold and white. All were reflective 3M material.

Drew, I can tell you that if that's your Lucerne Blue car in your avatar, the stripes could be "white" (actually more of a pearlescent silver-white due to the reflectivity), or gold.

I owned an original paint, chrome-nose, Lucy Blue '72 LeMans GT 25 years ago and mine had the white stripes on it.
There was also a T41, Lucy Blue '72 LeMans GT 455HO car here in town that I'm fairly certain was also an original paint car, and it had the gold stripes on it.

Unfortunately, you would need the build sheet (not the invoice) to know what color stripes were originally applied to your car.

HTH!

Have a ton of factory paperwork, & looked & looked for a copy of documentation as to what color of stripes went with what color of car, many years ago when I was running the GT-37 Survey & was reproducing the reflective style D98 stripes. Even after gaining access to, & eventually aquiring dealer albums, never ran across a stripe color useage document for any of the reflective D98 stripes

Below is list of '72 colors & the colors of reflective D98 stripes I've examined on original chrome front bumper '72 LeMans & LeMans GT's. Quite a few endura nose LeMans GT's had the 9 stripe version which was avail on '72 LeMans when ordered with GTO pkg. Many others came with reflective style stripes. Have never been able to figure why some got one version & some received the other, may have been supply issues. Have run across similiar supply issues with the front fender GT cutout issue. Not all original reflective LeMans GT front fender stripes had the GT cutout.

Cowl tag paint code... '72 Pontiac color name... Reflective D98 stripe COLOR

11... Cameo Ivory... BLUE
14... Revere Silver... BLUE
24... Adriatic Blue... SILVER
26... Lucerne Blue... SILVER
43... Springfield Green... GOLD
48... Wilderness Green... GOLD
50... Brittany Biege...???
53... Quezal Gold... BLACK
55... Shadow Gold... ???
56... Monarch Yellow...??? (only have parted this color '72 w 9 stripe decals)
57... Brasilia Gold... GOLD
63... Anaconda Gold... ???
65... Sundance Orange... BLACK
75... Cardinal Red... GOLD

--- Special order paint (painted 69 chevrolet rally green)... SILVER
--- Special order paint (painted 70 Pontiac burgandy)... BLACK

In a few cases the original stripes were merely reminants on back of the fender jambs. A few colors, I have never ran across & are noted by ???. Hope this helps.

Oops - oPh is correct, I completely forgot the blue stripe color.
And, Roger is also correct in calling the light colored stripe silver, NOT white.

My bad!

See - here are some pics showing just how BAD my memory is.

First, a couple of shots of my chrome nose '72 GT, just after I had sold it to a friend. As you can see, I had repainted the car from the fenders back, but the original front fender paint and stripe remain. Note - no GT cutout in the fender stripe, "GT" decal below.
Originally a 400 2V, TH400, A/C, low option car. I had installed a complete 744 cammed '71 HO engine and a 3.55 12-bolt posi, GTO springs and front sway bar, Y99 rear bar, 8" Snowflakes, etc. It was a FUN car, wish I had it back.

Then, a shot of the T41 GT at the same local club drags event. Please note the SILVER stripes. I recalled the gold Honeys and that fouled up my memory of it having gold stripes.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it, LOL!

My bad!
I wish I could find pics of my dads Lucerne Blue with silver stripe 72' Lemans GT. I would give up any body part necessary to have it now. He had the choice of the Lucy Blue w/silver stripe and the white w/blue stripe. Our local police cars had just gone to white w/blue stripes and my mom thought the GT would look to much like them. I believe about the only option that wasn't on the car was the 455. It was a 400 4bbl, hurst ? 4 spd., white (parchment) interior. Front/rear sways, A/C.
If I ever find one, I'm buying it!!! It was sold locally in 77' so who knows. Maybe I'll find it some day!

Well, it's been a while, but I finally found a picture of our Lucy Blue 72 Lemans GT. We took it on a trip to Disneyland/Grand Canyon.

Nice lookin' LeMans GT! Rare to see a LeMans GT with the T41 endura option.

Say - you mentioned F & R sway bars. LeMans GT's were NOT so equipped unless optioned with the Y99 suspension package. Y99 included 1 1/8" front and rear sway bars and 15" wheels with G60 tires. The Rally II's in that pic APPEAR to be 15" wheels.A rare option indeed.

Could your Dad's car have been so optioned?

My dad basically got every option he could on it except the 455. He had to use it for work and he drove all over the Northwest. He was a tie & timber inspector for the Union Pacific Railroad. This was the last car he bought for work. After this, he got "company" cars. This was the last of his 4 brand new Pontiacs for work. '65 GTO, '67 Firebird H.O., '69 Custom 'S', and the Lemans GT. He had the stripe painted on after it started coming off.
I loved this car and tried to buy it from him when I was 17. They wouldn't let me. This thing would cook the tires in all four gears.

Here's a picture of me when I was around 10 in front of our '69 Custom 'S'.
