The flairs are the pliable ones not the fiberglass ones just to be clear.What is the best way to prep the flairs on a 81 T/A for paint?I bought a very nice set but they are white and need to get them ready for paint.Do i just sand them with some lite grit to rough up the paint or take them down to the plastic.

Hope you get some replies because I have the same Question. I have read that bead blasting is better than any chemical (because the chemical leak into the plastic) and as far as sanding I would think you would want to get down to the original surface seeing it's going to get chipped pretty easily. I started bead blasting mine seems to be working , it's only taking off the paint. But hope you get some replies from some autobody guys.

Post under your year T/A tech, you'll most likely get the answer there. Worst case you could alway wet sand, no one is going to argue that method. I wet sanded my hard style and it did not take that long. Paint I'm sure, would be the same as for flexible parts. Follow paint manuf. recommendations. Can't remeber if flex flares have welting, if so, paint separetly then put them on afterwards.

i used fiberglassstripper on my rear flairs (77 t/a) ate the plastic in some spots had to sand plastic down in order to remove gauges left from stripper eating plastic.
