Default Mino and Bruno RAII and RAIV

Congratulations to Jim Mino at running a 12.10 at the track in Virginia last Saturday. Folks, he and Bruno(12.23) got those Pontiacs running hard. Pure Stock is where it's at.

That's the fastest time I've ever heard of from Mino in P/S. VMP has great traction.
He hurts people everywhere he goes.

Was Bruno running an IV T/A ?

Einstein: the Reddish/Bronzish Metallic 68 Bird Vert you guys saw in 1986 at G'boro POCI was a RA1 conversion. Originally an HO 400/4spd. Supposed to have been special ordered that exterior color. An old friend of mine owned the Car back when you saw it at POCI - it was in that condition when he bought it. He sold it shortly thereafter. Vaguely - I'm thinking it just had RAM AIR on the hood. Car is supposed to still be in NC. It was very nice and correctly done, fooled at least 2 buyers back then. Clone status was not discovered until early 90's. I had interest in 86, but price was about 2grand above my threshold.

If Marty had repo'd those emblems at any point in time - rest assured there would be 200-300 sets in circulation. He could have easily sold that many sets, or more. He was a major player in early Bird market throughout the 80's. Fantastic Five newsletter. Trivia that coin phrase and stump most any early Birder.

1968 Ram1 and Ram2 owners: do any of you guys with PHS documentation show a price on your 347 option ? From what I remember seeing on 68 Billing History stuff from PHS - no prices given. So, how do we correctly relate option price to the available PHS info to deduce whether its an Uno or a Duece, if no prices given ? Help me out a little here.

Go back thru the posts on this
I thought I had already answered the question of documenting when the price change was in effect for RAI-RAII running change.
Dealer price sheets do show the exact date of the price increase.
I often wondered why I needed multiple copies of documentation and in this case it pays off.

BTW Martys NL was "The Magnificent Five"

Also just found a copy of Johns NL"Purely PMD Pipeline"

By that I meant chrome diecast RAM AIR emblems on the hood.

1986 price to me was 10,500. Don't know what amount actually bought it back then. Last saw Car about 4-5 years ago.

I wanted the other 68 400 Vert he had during that same time. An unrestored all original 400 Triple Teal/Blueish shade. Automatic, fully optioned to the dam holy hilt. Bird glass, delx int, cruise, a-c, tilt, gauges, power everything, original colorkey factory floor mats still nice. $8,500. Felt like it was about 1.5-2k over the line also. No clue where it went. Only needed a repaint to be pristine. Sold fast. Didn't cry, wanted to, still whimper some. That bicht was gorgeous.

Now I'm gonna looky at what fastway posted for us.

BlkBrd, my personal thanks to you for combining data and wisdom - and providing the kind of answer I was hoping for. Hopefully I will be able to benefit from it personally someday. At minimum I can share it with others. Doing the math from base price up through the optional eqpt should provide the most accurate verdict, since an invoice total is supplied on BHC, as you state. Excellent.

Yes, he was running the 1969 Ram Air IV. I had heard that the track weather was at sea level conditions during the race. I went back and found the weather at VMP and even thought the track weather was good, track altitude turned out to be 760ftASL which is even more impressive runs. The track was really sticky for the 60ft times but impressive none the less. If Bruno or Jim gets on this post I would love to know their 60fts.

Bruno had been running a Green 69 GTO RamIV. And very well too.

At VMP in the Spring, he mentioned some secret plans for an IV F-body, soon.
Then he slipped in a pic of a 69 Trans Am at his garage not too long ago.
So I had to ask if it was a 69 IV T/A he was running, not his Green GTO.

Thanks Cortez. Welcome to the Forum.

That's probably that TA he got from Gary; if memory serves me correct it was a III with a IV. There is some thread where Bruno told about the motor he got out of this car and put in that car; and what he was going to put in the TA, but I don't remember which thread. Bruno builds some wicked cars; and if he says he's building a secret motor, he means it.

Cortezls6,
FYI, my 60 ft. on the 12.100-114.97 MPH run at VMP was 1.891. The 330 ft. was 5.11 and the 1/8 ET was 7.81 at 91.03 MPH. This is my best 60 ft. and ET/MPH on the repo redlines so far.

Jim,

I don't know when you made that run but the air density altitude was good but not great at VMP. Believe it or not the Density altitude at Stanton Saturday (PSMCDR ) was 142ft. I'm thinking what your thinking, I wish Stanton would spray the track better on the first 330. Great time slip Jim!

Thumbs up

Fantastic run Jim. That is honkin. I tried to race with you in Ohio for our HPP Pure Stock edition for Pavement Pounders but got rained out as you know (twice). We got ours in the Thursday before the Stanton race.

Again congrats!

Jody
