Everything I've seen and read about those roll bars from that outfit indicates they are not NHRA/IHRA legal for competition use.
My understanding is they are a "street" style deal. I strongly advise anybody even considering this undertaking go out and buy a rulebook and read it very closely,or you will be wasting a fair amount of time, money, and materials on a bar that wont pass even a cursory tech inspection.

FYI:This info is'nt necessarily 100% current,it's from an older rule book.
Again,I strongly advise you take it to a pro to have this done right,or get a kit from a respected chassis outfit and use the rulebook and follow it to the letter! And do note,a roll cage has even more complex rule requirements than the simple roll bar does. HTH. |

Still I strongly advise getting the rulebook and reading it closely,as poor execution of the bar installation can fail the bar as fast as incorrect materials or improper design or such. Lots of details to remember that people dont always think about as a first timer. |

I was'nt aware they had been added to his line-up... But just advising others to use the "pro-tour" bar is misleading,a fella may think the 4 point bar would have him covered if somebody did'nt bother to point out what exactly defines "legal". You guys gotta be careful giving advice on things related to tech certification, especially if you have'nt been thru a ton of that stuff yourselves,it's real easy for a guy to get some lame advice here and have it cost him a whole bunch of time, effort, money, and materials if he takes the wrong advice as gospel, especially when the printed gospel is readily available for a small fee (NHRA rulebook is the best money you can spend on the subject). This is'nt something to take lightly,do it once and do it right. JMO/FWIW. |

I think the way the text is written is kinda misleading,it says, and I quote: Quote:
And I would be very curious about the "easy access" 6 point bar pitch,as that has certain legal requirements as well,"drooped" side bars are'nt legal on the drivers side at all,so those are taboo for the most part here, and the swing out side bars require a very specific execution to remain legal as well, the side bar itself has specific execution to be legal, just read the included text I gave in post #11,it states that very clearly: Sidebar must be included on the drivers side and must pass the driver at a point midway between the shoulder and the elbow. I would advise you discuss that subject with them,as to what defines "easy access",I dunno,my roll bar on my A body makes it real fun to get in and out (but I'm a hefty fella),I even put in a quick release steering wheel to improve entry/egress on mine,I cant imagine how tight it must be with a bar/cage in second gen F body... I feel the pro-tour six point bars would be a fine enough kit for the most part likely, would really need to see one installed in a car for a real opinion. But as I said earlier,if the execution during install is faulty, that can be as bad as using the wrong kit or materials or such, you,as the installer, you have to know and follow the rules as well when installing the bar,and if your not 100% familiar with the rules, you damn well better have the rulebook or a current copy of the rules handy to consult with and make sure your not wasting you time installing the bar incorrectly. There is a process to this, mock up,tack the bars, check the fit, adjust if needed, then final welding and fitting of stuff like seat braces and harness mounts and such, add the bar padding, that sorta stuff. Think before you build, dont rush a deal like this,JMO. |

In fact just starting to price adding a bar/cage for the 500" IA2 project Camaro. I bought one of the SW kits awhile back. Heard though any of the kits can have fit issues. Since mine has no package tray wanted to add bars to the rear spring pickup area.
