I had the HURST Competition Plus with nice-looking black rods, and the stainless bushings. I had rusty reinforced sleeved rods that sat in a box of shift rods. I definietly had the optional 2-3 upshift under WOT. So I can go figure on rod-flex.

I had dead-even shifter aligns as DICTATED by the Muncie Inside cover (super-stiff lock-gates). I had NO lead alignment (getting to 3 before pulling 2), I had no lag ( pulling from 2 earlier that getting to 3).

so P-dude shows a good point...if you got the 2-to-3 bind, then you gots a chance to dial-out the #3/4 shift-rod flex...and see what gives under load.
