Thanks for all the help. The photos really were the ticket to success. Ported the intake out to the gasket line and rounded under the flange to give a smooth transition for air flow. One thing I did learn is that WD-40 will keep a rotary file (burr) clean and let you grind aluminum without the burr clogging up. In the past I have used burrs on aluminum without much success. Grind for a minute and clean the burr for five. If you folks are spending hours with sand paper rolls, try spraying a lubricant on the burr and aluminum surface to make the chips fall off the burr.
