I guess every week or so I have to prod the HO forum back to life....

Here is a question that is for the 455 HO experts. I can not find a definitive answer in any of the usual sources.....
How many of the four fasteners that hold the exhaust crossover to the head were studs and how many were bolts?

The parts book lists four studs and no bolts, but if memory serves my car had 3 studs and 1 bolt.
One of the four is a bear to install as a stud (too long) so possibly a running change was made for ease of assembly. Anybody have an unmolested car, or taken one apart?

I have 2 relatively untouched 71 HO cars that I can check for you if you can wait a week or so. Do you want pictures or is a description ok?

No hurry. No need for pictures either, just a description.
Please indicate either; 4 studs
or a mixture of studs and bolts.
If the latter, please describe where you found any bolts (ie LH side front, etc)
Also please post the build week and plant (for example 04A Norwood)

Here is an underhood shot of a 71 Formula 455HO I bought a couple of months back. I'll post some my Trans Am later. The TA is in better shape.

My 7/71 TA has studs on the passenger side, yet the drivers side foward crossover mount is a bolt and the rear is a stud, same as another posters 6/71 car. I was the 1st to open this engine, still had the original "S" camshaft inside when I disassembled.
