I used the 246/253 duration cam in my 455 way back when.

That was an awesome grind.

Went 12.01 time after time.

Heres a quick breakdown:
Car weighed 3750 at the time.
455 .030 TRWs.
No 13 heads,unported.Just a valve job.
Stock T-2 intake.
Holley 850.
1.75 Heddman headers.
Comp Roller tip rockers.
Torque Tech 3" exhaust with tailpipes.
Generic TCI 3500 conveter.
3.89 gears.

Cam was also advanced 4 degrees.

Gave alot of Mustangs the whooping;as that cam was very streetable.I drove that thing everywhere.

Mark.

What does Pete mean when he says, "Closing the lobe separation angle (paradoxically, spreading the lobes apart) increases the overlap but also closes the intake valve sooner, resulting in higher cylinder pressure?"

Closing the lobe separation angle spreads the lobes apart???

Yeah, I also would think it means tightening them up, no spreading them apart.
