THE CHANGES WERE SIMPLE, HOTTER CAM, REJETTED THE SECONDARYS, 3:73 GEARS, B&M STAGE 2 SHIFT KIT, TRUE DUAL FLOWMASTER EXHAUST, AND THERE WAS 2 OR 3 OTHER SMALL THINGS HE DONE THAT I CAN'T REMEMBER OFF HAND. I CURRENTLY HAVE A 81 TA WITH A 301 NON TURBO THAT DISCONNECTED THE COMPUTER BY REPLACING THE CARB, METRIC TRANS WITH A TH350 WITH A STAGE 2 SHIFT KIT, DISTRIBUTOR AND I PUT A TRUE DUAL EXHAUST ON IT, I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 17 YEARS AND I DO NOT BABY IT AND I'VE NEVER BEEN INSIDE THE ENGINE AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. IT IS VERY CAPABLE OF OUT RUNNING GT RUSTANGS AND 350 CAMAROS.

We owned several 301 Pontiacs back in the early 80's. Two were turbos and one N/A. The turbo cars, both Trans Ams were lucky to be in the low-mid 14's with mods to the engines. The N/A 301 was hopelessly in the high 15's-low 16's on a good day.

Your post is the result of one of the following:

1) Your recollection of the past is fuzzy.
2) The post is total BS.
3) Your 13 second memory is actually a 0-60mph time.

Of course, there's always the possibility your engine guy may have built a 400 and slipped it in there too.

We did it a few times with 350 and 400 Pontiacs in rides where a 301 came apart (a common occurrence when attempting to extract performance from them), then dress up the 350-400's with the 301 emission crap and 4.9 logos/decals. Fooled alot of people except for real Pontiackers.
