Didnt the Toyota engine come out in the 50s ? It looks alot more like the "Stovebolt" Chebbys (216,235,292) which had 4 main bearings vs. the 7 main bearings used in the '62 & later 194,202 (Sold in the UK),215,230,250 and 292 cid engines.

Gas Land Cruiser engines are manufactured by Toyota. The F and 2F engines were also used in Toyota Forlifts. The F engine is supposed to be based on the Chevy 225 I-6 "Cast Iron Wonder" and some of the bottom end of the engine is rumored to be interchangeable. The main differences between the F and the 2F are the 2F's larger bore, the F's 2 compression and 2 oil rings versus the 2F's 2 compression and single oil ring and the fact that the F had two oil paths--through the filter or through the engine compared to the 2F where all oil had to travel through the filter before the engine.

The 235 had 4 main bearings; did the Toyota use 7 ?

The Toyotas I've worked on, all were four mains.

For the 6.2 crank question, all have been cast that I've seen. Not sure on the 6.5's.

Im told some 6.5s were steel cranks and some 6.2s in 1 ton stepvans were also, although Ive never seen one. Anyone confirm this ?
Id bet if any 6.2s had steel cranks the military trucks had them.
