I just bought an NOS mirror that came with the instructions. I'll try to scan them and post them this weekend. But, regarding the location of the control, I'm pretty sure the hole is on all 64's. It's a round hole, on the bottom of the dash, near the parking brake release handle. It should have two small screw holes around it.

So, I now have a question maybe someone can help with. The dwgs do not give dimensions for the locations of the holes in the fender relative to the edges of the fender. They reference a "0" plane.

Can someone with an original remote mirror fender take some measurements from the rear edge of the fender and from a body line or the edge of the fender near the hood?

Have a couple of extra fender kicking around and will check in the morning, they made a real dumb way of mounting the mirror if I remember correctly, will check tomorrow.

I think the "0" line will be the very front of the firewall (and at the top of the firewall) at the centerline of the car. Find the centerline, measure 3" forward along the centerline from the top and face of the firewall, then 32.23" perpendicular from the centerline to the centerline of the 1/2" dia. cable hole on the fender. Other holes referenced from that. I would measure to both fenders and get it equidistant from the back of the fender on both sides to assure the line is perpendicular to the car centerline.

The drawing was surely intended for field installations of the Dealer Accessory Package.

Likely they used a template in the factory because they probably punched the holes in the fender before they painted it and long before the front end sheet metal was mated to the Body Assembly on the Final Line so couldn't reference off the firewall as they were building it. Hopefully somebody can measure off an original fender to confirm the location.

John V, good to here from you again. Yes, the "0" line may be the firewall, but 3 inches seems kind of short to me. I work in automotive design, and where I work, the 0X plane would be close to the front axle center, but that's obviously not the case here. No idea really. Hopefully someone can measure the hole location on an original fender. I'm not in any hurry, the body hasn't even been started yet, so I'll try to keep this post alive until we find the answer. The mirror I bought appears to be the dealer installed accessory mirror. It came NOS in the box with all the hardware to mount it with those instructions. Lucky find. I thought it would be good to post the drawing for others to reference.
