Well after waiting for some backordered parts we can finally finish up the Judge. We have the Endura nose painted and ready to install........and we are finishing up some other small details.

Here is a shot of the restored headlight assemblies.......with all new adjusters, trim ring mounts, and T3 headlights:

This has to be the best documented restoration done. If you ever put on DVD I would be happy to buy a copy. The info you have supplied us is priceless. Please post a link to the auction when it's up!! I'm sure there will be plenty from here watching. Again as all have said that is truely a fabulous resto. Big pat on the back is deserved for everyone involved.........Dave K.

And here we have the most difficult part of the car to restore......the infamous Endura nose.

As with all the old Endura noses, this one had it's share of cracking and shrinking over the years. It took alot of work but it fits and looks beautiful again. It's very nice to see the "face" of the Judge back on again.

Those are the original grilles, and original "GTO" emblem. The headlight buckets are new and they are perfect.

That's got to be one of the top ten front-end designs of all time. What a beautiful 'face'.

Ditto x3, Jason!

Superb workmanship and attention to detail. Congrats on the project nearing completion, and good luck with the sale.

Beautiful, beautiful job...

I'm joining the discussion a little late, but I would like to go back to the questions about "masking" within GM assembly plants...

No masking was done as a general rule. Keep in mind: the bodies had just been assembled from raw individual panels and pieces and so there was NOTHING inside. No other parts had been assembled yet so there was nothing that needed masking.

The body would go from the "body shop" (or "cab shop") immediately to paint to be primed (or today to be electrostatically dipped in the primer) and then for the color coat application. There would be no worries (or minimal worries) about dust because the body would have been in a clean area the whole time and for a short period of time (other than a strike or changeover or some other extenuating shutdown).

The only masking that would be done would be for a two tone or for a paint repair after the vehicle was completed. For two tones, I think you might find that the secondary color was sprayed first, then taped off in the desired shape, then the primary color sprayed over that. This was how we did it in the truck plant for the various two toned options (ZY6, ZY7, etc) for pickups, Blazers and Suburbans.

FWIW and, again, sorry to join the discussion so late; excellent work! -

K

Cool! Have him post some, or perhaps you could share some on his behalf...

We had quite a thread going over here, if you are interested: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=556607

Did he work at the Arlington plant?

Jason, If thiose over heads lights in your shop are not the newer T-8's you may want to seriously think about swaping them out for the new T-8 tubes are much brighter and more cost effiecient to run. The what appears to be T-5's in there now are old school. You will be shocked at the difference. The new T-8's will fit directly into your old T-5 fixtures.

Wonderful job on the car as well, your personal pride speaks volumes.

Jason, looking forward to seeing the finished car! Especially in front of the barn it was found in. You have quite a well documented restoration. Great job!

Here is the front end almost done. I still have a little tweaking to do on the lower valance to get it perfect.

The interior is almost done as well. Everything works perfectly and it is all original except the carpet. We still gotta finish the seatbelts and do the final detailing in there.
