So much in fact, I converted it to a GM HEI I pulled off a 77 Nova inline 6. All I had to do was swap the gear and have the flange machined off. I believe the oil pump is a bolt on too. The one I pulled from my cruiser has well over 300K on it.

It's very simple really. Get the HEI off of a GM inline 6 engine. I pulled mine off of a 77 Nova in a junk yard.

Then you just need to swap the gear for a Toyota gear, and machine the "lip" off of the dizzy shaft so the shaft will engage the oil pump. Make up some kind hold down tab and you are done.

Do you have a cruiser? I have the distributor still.

About 8 years ago, I made a web page with instructions for putting an HEI into a 2F. I was wondering if you were one of the page visitors who tried it.

I didn't remove the lip on mine and didn't have any problems.

I've had 3 FJ40s, but none now. On my website I've got a few old FJ40 modification pages that I wrote.

What's your website? I may have checked it, who knows, it was about 7 years ago when I did it.

The lip on mine wouldn't allow it to seat all the way down, weird.
