C-letter power? Chevrolet and Pontiac engineering were disassembled in 1985 (and homogenized into "CPC engineering"). The LS1 is a "GM Powertrain" motor, not a Chevy engine. Nothing interchanges between LSx engines and small-block Chevys.

As far as the project, I think an LS1 in a '70 is waaayyy cool. I have thought about building one for years! You have to bring it to the TA Nats when done.
