Could be a nailhead but it doesn't really look like it to me.

OK I read through that other thread. They still don't look like nailheads or Pontiacs to me. I don't know about Olds but if yall say they're not Olds then I guess they're not. Are they for sure Buick?

Chris- that's one of the best photos I've seen of the single-blown twin-215 dragster.
Without digging back through old posts, I'll risk repeating myself here- they are both 215 shortblocks, one having the Buick-version heads, the other the Pontiac/Olds version.

Sigh.

They are variants of the 215 cubic inch aluminum V8 that was used in Buicks, Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs, but with different heads...just like Jack said (to repeat him repeating himself).

For those interested, I just posted a clip on YouTube of early 70's funnies, T/F, and Pro Stock. Go about 2 minutes in, and you'll see some Union Grove match racing with Beswick's "Boss Bird". There's also some 1/8 mile IHRA racing from Charlotte Motor Speedway....in the pit lanes.

Keith, great pics!!!

I just added this short video to YouTube. Check out the opening shot of the Royal 421SD Tempest Wagon coming in on the trailer, and Wangers red-lighting against Strickler...

Excellent, excellent, excellent!!

I saw that footage of the Royal wagon at the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills (...of all places...) and have wanted it ever since. You just saved me figuring out how to get it!

I've got a few more but I was going to check and make sure they aren't repeats before posting.

Great video,I could watch 'em all day.Much better than modern day drag racing.I find watching races on tv to be boring.
