Feel bad, as I helped Gary make the decision to send his there too.

Did not get any racing history of the car. Decided to take it back about 95% factory appearing, as thought it would be more marketable that way. We'll see.

Sadly, my car may wind up with Tom Fischer at Muscle Car Alley too. His shop really moves on their cars, and he's doing a great job on a white 79 for me.

The rest of you guys should know more of this story. Gary and I began working on this SD deal over three months ago. We came to an agreement, with Gary most graciously offering to hold the car for me - at our agreed price - until I could come up with the necessary funds (sell my GTO). Keep in mind that since our agreement, a few SD cars had changed hands, i.e. the B-J auction, etc. Those sales indicated that SD prices were remaining firm despite the crappy economy. Nevertheless, Gary assured me that we still had a deal at the agreed price.

I finally got off my duff and started working with several local contacts, and I was finally able to sell my GTO to a really nice guy from San Antonio. With a firm deal made - and a deposit in hand - for the GTO, I felt comfortable with taking out a short-term loan so that Gary and I could complete our deal.

My point is that Gary is undoubtedly one of the nicest guys in the Pontiac hobby. Thanks once again my friend, I appreciate your patience, and I owe you one!

I hope JasonD can get your other SD done in time for the warmer weather!

Good luck with the 74SD. It looks like everything worked out for both of you. I had a 74 SD455, white with a red interior/automatic/no bird several years ago. I'd say white on white is one of the better color combinations for the 74's.

I just received the latest issue of Muscle Car Review. There is a Brewster Green '73 SD TA/saddle custom interior with 12,000 miles featured in that issue. It was bought new in Santa Monica, California. It's completely original, and owned by a collector in Florida. It says the owner acquired it 3 years ago, but I don't remember it being advertised. Is anyone familiar with this car?

Am I correct in assuming that if one doesn't have the build sheet for a '74 T/A, there's no way to know if the car was originally equipped with Rally II or Honeycomb wheels?

I realize that it's been discussed here before, but was there ever a definitive answer?

The build sheet is your best bet to find that out, but since you do not have it, you might try PHS to see if the window sticker says anything because my window sticker DOES specify the tires, rims, and rim trim

Nothing on the PHS invoice on mine, Youssef. Window sticker simply indicates that Rally II's were standard equipment on a T/A.

Would that indicate that my SD was originally equipped with Rally II's?

Without question, the invoice does not tell you if a 73 or 74 TA came with Rally II or Honeycomb wheels. It also does not list 4-speed or Turbo-hydramatic. These were no-cost options and do not appear on the invoice.

The elusive build sheet will answer these questions and others. Unfortunately, they are rarely found in the car.

I am not absolutely certain, but I believe the window sticker does not show Honeycombs or Turbo-hydramatic either. I would have to find one of my copies to confirm.

You are correct on both counts. Build sheet is the only way to verify wheels and transmissions.

There is another way and that is the order sheet from the dealer in which the customer filled out upon ordering.
Which I have for my car with the honeycombs! nothing on the automatic with the Rally II's, however you could place what ever you want on the car and call it a deal option and no one can argue.
Will except one but I wouldn't mention names.

Since my SD has Honeys on it, I'll assume they were the OEM wheels.
Won't stop me from running a set of "de-chromed" Rally II's (ala Mr. Woodard) from time to time, though!
