When you think of it this type of thing was the real problem with these cars. Back in the day every week the newspapers were full of stories of kids killing themselves in these kind of High powered cars.
As much as we love them they did have their flaws and this was a biggy; Too much power for the chassis when in the wrong hands and these cars attracted just those wrong hands. Sad for the driver and his family.

I love seeing raring cars out doing what they are supposed to do. This is where I feel clones come in. Some hate them, but I would rather see superbirds, RAIV cars, Judges, daytonas, hemi's, LS6 chevelles out there burning rubber, running quarters, etc. The only smart way to do it, in my opinion, is converting more common models into rarer models. They are the stunt doubles for the real ones. I put about 300 miles a month on my GTO. If it had originally left the factory as a four speed Judge instead of a standard GTO, I would be nuts to do that.

"Yes, it's a real GTO. I know the scoops, spoiler, exhaust tips, and rear wheels are wrong. Umm, sure it's the 'big block' 400, you are quite the expert. I am driving in the rain, at night, running errands, with the kids who are eating and having ice cream in the back, after going to the drag strip, burning rubber, and blowing donuts. Do you really think it's numbers matching all original?"

Talked with a GTO friend from the Twin Cities about this car. The driver was the son of the owner. He is recovering from two fractured legs, some broken ribs, and some head lacerations. The father bought the car back from the insurance company, and the Judge is being parted out.

The Judge has sold complete via private sale. The driver is going to be ok but faces a long road of rehab on his feet and legs.

I've been waiting to post these pics for quite some time. I held off out of respect to the former owner and my friend who was trying to buy the Judge.
The car is a real PHS RAIII 4-spd Judge. The original owner bought the car back from the insurance company and subsequently sold it to a friend of mine. I took these pics back in September 2009 when the car was delivered to my buddy's place. The engine was pulled and the block looks like it will be useable with some repairs to motor mount bosses. It is a real 69 WS block. The transmission was still attached to the bellhousing but the transmission tailshaft was under the passenger door at a 45 degree angle. Shifter boss was completely ripped off the trans. Driveshaft was torn out and cracked the 3.55 posi rear axle housing and one axle tube. Telephone pole hit directly at drivers side headlights, straight through the battery which sprayed acid everywhere, with a direct hit on master cylinder and booster. I could not locate the master cylinder anywhere. Steering column was bent at 90 degrees, dash is crumpled beyond repair. Even the bucket seat mounts are bent. My buddy is keeping the WS block, 48 heads, and carb, manifolds, and Muncie 4-spd. Everything else is still intact and he plans to use it as a lawn ornament which in fact will turn out to be a very interesting piece of art. This is by far the most mangled muscle car I have ever seen up close. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If he uses it as a lawn ornament, I would put a fence around it to keep people from stealing parts.

The deck lid & spoiler look good, but I bet the trunk floor is toast!
I don't know how he's going to get the motor out of that thing!
