Will a bad head light switch cause the dome light to stay on? Meaning that it will work fine with the head lights, but not the dome light?
Yes, it could. White wire from dome light goes to both door switches and headlight switch to make a path to ground.

Try pulling the headlight switch and disc the connector. If that clears the dome light, take a good look at the switch for possible repair. There is a contact on it for grounding the white lead when you turn it fully CCW.
