This is a very sad story. I think finding storage in Okla would be no problem. Finding a wrecker in Okla would be no problem , Best if you can find someone in the city to help you out to get them moved first then assesed. I am 250 miles away but go thru there each month. I could assess them for you if necessary. But someone in Okla would be better for you as far as moving them and storing them but if that doesnt pan out I could probably handle that as well. Right now it ounds like you need to pick one and fix it using the other for parts. An engine overhaul like Mike said would surely be necessary. PM me if I can help.

Hi Txbobcat, thanks for the message, the more I think about this the more I think I'll come over and drag the cars out and organise for them to be shipped to storage. As I mentioned earlier I have 3 weeks vacation around Easter so it's not a problem for me to fly in sort it out, but I might have to sort out storage before then...Craigslist is a good option for me.
Mike was right about the engine, it would need a rebuild...I was so frustrated when I saw the car as the engine was a sweet little thing without any problems, but being exposed to the elements is just sloppy on his part. My problem is, I'm too trusting...when someone says they are going to do something I think they will do it...I certainly wouldn't do this to anyone. I sometimes use a haulage guy in Texas to move any cars around the country, thanks for you offer of going to assess the cars. I might take you up on it, but I don't want to give him too much warning or who knows I might not see all the spare parts for the car he has stored! I might tell a little white lie and say someone might be coming to look at the car to see if it's a project he wants to tackle.... The cars are in Norman, Oklahoma so it's pretty close to the Texan border. I'll send you a PM nearer the time Thanks again Peter |

It is too bad you are so far away but it would be great to see you take legal action against that jerk and put him out of business. I know another instance of something like this happening, different shop, and the bonehead had no action at all taken against him which means he is still in business to do it to someone else.

your right, but it would take so much of my time and I'd rather cut my losses and pull the cars out of there and then think about what to do with him.
It's funny but in all the years I've been buying and selling cars (just a hobby of mine rather than a job), I've had this guy with the Bonnevilles who lied about the so called work he's done, and the only other time it has happened is when I sold a 69 Firebird 400 Convertible project. A different shop in another part of the country, but I gave him the car to sell as I wanted it to stay in the US and didn't have the time to bring it to Europe. After 12 months of nothing, the day I called to say that I'll have to ship it to Europe to sell it there as nothing was happening with him...he informs me he sold the car, which was great and that he would send me the money. I said to hang onto the money as the exchange rate wasn't great at that time and that I would be over in a couple of months to pick it up (another big mistake), needless to say he spent the money and I never got a penny...that was 3 years ago! I've been patient to say the least (his wife got cancer and was very ill)...but 3 years is still 3 years. p |

...or physical action, THEN legal action.
