70 power windows
My power windows are not working. I've heard there is a relay behind the drivers side kick panel. I had to use a battery charger to get the windows up so I could trailer the car.

Check the circuit breaker in the fuse panel for power and the large window circuit that plugs into the fuse panel.

What do you mean you used a battery charger to get the windows up? Did you hook to the battery, which would indicate a bad battery? Or did you hook directly to the window switches? There is a relay behind or above the drivers kick panel that needs to be good. On my 70 Bonneville, I used a jumper wire to eliminate the relay, so my windows always work, even without a key. Amazing how often you need to raise the windows in a convertible.

No I went to the window switch. I had no front harness. I just got a new relay from PY and will try today to get the kick panel out and get my windows working.

I thought I fried the relay, since I had taken the door panel off and used the battery charger on the main window switch to power all the windows. I replaced the relay and still not working. Then found a wire off that went to a relay on the firewall above the brake booster and still not working. Then my buddy found a pink wire and put it to the fuse box and got my windows working. I should of bought a new dash harness, because mine was all cut up and wires going nowhere. Found my tach wire as well to get that working.
PS we wired the windows so you didn't need a key to work them, but it was drawing power off the battery while not in use, so I have it to the key now |
