I'm assembling an auto ahifter for a 69 GTO. How does the shift indicator housing mount to the top of the shifter? I don't see any bolt holes. By double sided tape?

are you referring to the pot metal assembly with indicator lense attached to it?

if so, it just snaps on the top metal bracket of the shifter - two square cut openings in it - there's two U or C shaped spring clips that are "riveted" to pot metal piece. by "riveted" i mean it looks as if the pot metal had a little nipple the clips went over, then got smashed down to retain them. look at the underside of it, top and bottom ( front and back ), and you should see them or where they were.

more than likely theyre long gone though. i have a half dozen of them and all but one is missing one or both.

Speaking of these shift indicator housing, are they still available? I been looking for one.
