Yeah, you & I talked alot about that when you were posting about that deal Steve, and I totally agree your deal was sorta a "forced" decision, and like I told you then,I'd run it and not sweat it too much at all, pretty much said "let the chips fall where they may",for you,the money was already spent, and you did get a decent value for that money spent,so really there was no turning back for your deal, and spending more to address that issue would have been a big problem for you @ that time.
Though for anyone who has'nt got a fully prepped block sitting there waiting to be used, well they indeed would be in a different position, they do have the chance to ponder the pros & cons, and make changes before any real $$ is spent. It does'nt cost any more (or less) to machine either block. ![]() Bret P. |

![]() I did'nt have any trouble when I was in SE. Wisconsin either, matter of fact my current 400 cid race engine came from up there. It helps to move in the right circles, know the right folks. ![]() I know a couple guys up there that probably have a couple dozen 400 cid blocks between them @ any given time. Know some down here that have more than that!!! ![]() Maybe I should start a pontiac "hoarders" show... LOL Bret P. |

Well, I run in the wrong crowds then
![]() I just called on two blocks that are listed on craigslist and both are 557s. I'm going to take the XX block in to get checked and keep my eyes open for another 400 in the mean time. If I can’t find one, and the XX checks out, I’ll go forward with that block. Thanks again everyone. Last edited by Twistedpinion; 07-07-2010 at 05:11 PM. Reason: speeeeling errors |

That's a fact,Jack!!! Some understand it,some dont, but yeah your absolutely correct,I'm a no BS kinda guy. Can even be a bit brutal @ times, but I try to tone that instinct down just a bit here. I dont ever mean anything personal by that sorta thing, but I know that in the past, the folks that have helped me the most, often were the ones that were being perfectly blunt with me,and yeah I may not have liked that much @ the time either, but as things go,I have come to understand why some people are like that, and I've grown to respect that trait to some degree. It just is'nt always an easy thing to translate into words like we do on these forums. ![]() Bret P. |
